Highlight of the night -- Chris singing Love Me Tender. (Taylor and the rest were pretty good singing Burning Love too.) Most of the other songs just made me realize how pathetic most people sound compared to Elvis.
Now waiting for the results...
Oh noooooo. Chris is going home. What is wrong with America? I predict that Chris is going to be a huge star anyway. Taylor is going to win it all, in my opinion, which is a shame because he is not that good.
Update: Bernard Higgins has a great writeup. I agree with him completely about Taylor and Elliott. Be sure to read his post.
Update II: A lot of other people are just as disgusted as I am. Many are upset by the way Ryan told Chris he was going home and by the fact that Taylor got to sing a song. Some are calling for a boycott of the show.
Update III: Much more at Polipundit.

I'm depressed Lorie. Really disappointed. My daughters and I don't understand why Taylor keeps getting the votes. I personally don't like Katharine but we all love Elliot and Chris was my favorite of all.

I am right there with you, Laura. Me and my girls are really bummed. I think that Elliott has been really good at times, but other times I think his voice is weak and shaky. He seems like an incredibly sweet guy and is obviously talented, but I just don't think he is consistent enough.
Chris was more consistent than the others and I think the best. I think he and Mandisa should have been in the finals.
I do not understand how Taylor is getting the votes either, but I think he will win and I think that will be a shame.
This is the first season I have been so disappointed by the vote results. I just have no desire to watch it anymore, but I will to see how it ends. I am really, really bummed though.

I just read what K-Lo wrote on The Corner and I totally agree. I will probably watch it to the end but the fun is gone.

Add me to the depressed. I was so hoping Katherine would be the one to go, but it was not meant to be. You can be sure I'm behind Elliot all the way now, and I think a lot of other people who wanted Chris to win feel the same way. Chris' main mistake was wearing the sunglasses on the first song. Some of his critics called him arrogant, and the shades just seemed to make them feel they were right. On his second song, it was the ending. I enjoyed the song all the way up until the end where he blew it. People are now talking about how he is free to accept other opportunities, but I heard somewhere a new clause was added to the contestants contract that they will have to wait at least two months after the show ends before they can accept another offer. The clause was placed into this contract after William Hung made a deal to continue his unique brand of singing.

I agree with you BKnight. The whole show was a mess last night. It was so obvious when Ryan was interviewing that blonde actress in the audience last night that having Taylor sing was a setup. Already planned. They are pushing him bigtime.
And Katharine. There's something really annoying about her. Sure she's pretty. I liked her a lot in the beginning but she began to wear on me as the season progressed even more than Paris and that's saying a lot.
I found myself thinking when she was doing the Elvis songs that Kellie Pickler could have done them much better. But Chris leaving? I probably will boycott the rest of the show. I've been giving up other stuff that's more important on Tuesday nights but I think I will just drop AI and get back to that stuff.
We recently discovered Scrubs. A hilarious show. And the star of that show really resembles my son-in-law except my son-in-law is much cuter. But he's funny like that.

Lorie,
I was listening to Greensboro, NC's local FM (107.5) and they had Chris Daughtry's new song on the radio at 12:15 today. Not too bad, only 15 hours after getting the boot, he already has a solo song. I think they said it was called "close to me" or something like that. All I know is that it totally rocked. Just like the Chris that did Fuel when there were 20 contestants and made us all say "WOW". It was a great first song. He's going to outsell most everyone before him. Maybe even more than Kelly or Carrie, although that will be a task.
Good Luck Chris. You Rocked!

That is really cool. I actually heard that song last night on one of the Daughtry Gang fan sites. I don't know when it was recorded, but assume it was a self recorded track with the band he performed with before going on Idol.
