Polipundit has posted two reports recently showing voters in the traditionally Democrat state of Hawaii virtually tied in the presidential race. I know that it makes no sense whatsoever considering the need for Bush to visit electoral vote rich states in this last week before the election, but I would love to see Bush go to Hawaii to campaign. I grew up watching the Elvis movies with the beautiful Hawaiian scenery and listening to the American Trilogy anthem from his Aloha from Hawaii tour album. Just think of the tanned President, in his festive lei, in front of the beautiful backdrops. Imagine the somber Pearl Harbor photo op, followed by a sprited rally with an adoring military audience. The fact that Bush would have the confidence to make such a trip could prove some psychological intimidation to the Kerry campaign, as well. I know, it makes more sense to go to Ohio and Florida, and maybe Minnesota or Iowa or even Michigan, considering their number of electoral votes and the travel time required, but a girl can dream can't she?
UPDATE: Go to Polipundit's comments section to see some great feedback on this post. Many think the campaign shouldn't send Bush due to time constraints, but should send someone like Laura Bush or Condi Rice or a celebrity like Tom Selleck or Arnold. At the very least, someone suggested that the Bush people should figure out a way to "trick" Kerry into sending Teresa there to campaign. Now that might just sew the state up for Bush.
